A happy St Patrick's Day to you all

A happy St Patrick’s Day to you all across the world. The Covid-19 pandemic is affecting each and every one of us and I hope that you will stay safe wherever you live.

We are having an unusual St Patrick’s Day celebration here in our little corner of the world where our pubs and restaurants are closed because the Irish Government has advised us to stay at home. We are bracing ourselves for an increase in infection cases over the next couple of weeks that will put enormous strain on our health system but everyone is working hard to save lives. This is a frightening time for those of us who have vulnerable people in our families. We have two people at risk in ours: our son and my 96 year old mother.

We’re lucky to live in the countryside and I’ve just been out for a walk with the dogs and spotted my first primrose of spring 2020, a bright symbol of hope in a dark time. At least the virus can’t stop us spending time in our gardens and getting out in the fresh air.

I plan to have a few extra posts each month with competitions and quizzes that might help pass the hours. I’d love if you could drop by sometimes and if you have any good ideas please let me know.

A big thank you to all the new people who have joined this blog in recent weeks. You are most welcome!

Stay well and safe.

Best wishes to you all,
